Lyrics:
Happy Thanksgiving
here’s the history
Of how Thanksgiving
holiday tradition came to be

Happy Thanksgiving
And you wouldn’t believe
on the first Thanksgiving
They didn’t even serve turkey

The first Thanksgiving was supposedly held in 1621 To celebrate the Pilgrims first successful crop with the Native American

But it’s written the Native Americans brought 5 deer to the feast And there wasn’t any Turkey Instead they ate venison

After that 3 day feast, Thanksgiving wasn’t celebrated or became an America holiday
tradition

Thursday, November 26th, 1789
the first ever National Thanksgiving Holiday was announced by George Washington

Still, Thanksgiving Didn’t Become An Annual Tradition Nationwide Until The 19th Century
for everyone

The author for Mary Had A Little Lamb!
Sarah Josepha Hale. was inspired by a Pilgrim diary to recreate this tale

In 1827 Hale went on a 30-year campaign to make Thanksgiving A National Holiday
with recipes for Turkey she unveiled

Sara Hale Thought By Making Thanksgiving A National Holiday It Would Ease Tensions Between Americas North and South someday

So she wrote a letter to Abraham Lincoln requesting Thanksgiving to be an official holiday So we could celebrate this way

So in 1863 in the midst of the Civil war president, Lincoln declared Thanksgiving a holiday in November set on the last Thursday

Happy Thanksgiving
here’s the history
Of how Thanksgiving
holiday tradition came to be

Happy Thanksgiving
And you wouldn’t believe
on the first Thanksgiving
They didn’t even serve turkey

This tradition kept on until 1939 When President Franklin D Roosevelt Moved Thanksgiving Up A Week with reason

He was trying to give the great depression retailers more time to make more money during the pre-Christmas shopping season

This change was widely criticized by the Americans. So Roosevelt Returned Thanksgiving To The 4th Thursday Of November In 1941

A Thanksgiving tradition began in 1989 when president George H.W. Bush pardoned first Turkey officially

Every president since then has given a reprieve to a Turkey sending them into retirement on a farm it’s humane, not silly

Have a happy Thanksgiving and be sure to remember to love the people of this Earth no matter what their differences or beliefs

Happy Thanksgiving
here’s the history
Of how Thanksgiving
holiday tradition came to be

Happy Thanksgiving
And you wouldn’t believe
on the first Thanksgiving
They didn’t even serve turkey
